Easter

We had a really fun Easter this year. We started off going to Evanston on Friday night and spending Saturday with the Erickson Family. We woke up Saturday morning and went to the Evanston City Easter Egg Hunt. Our cousin Machesney went with us.  After the egg hunt we met Alan's brother Jason and Sheila at the Fairgrounds with their girls. They were there getting their pigs for 4H. Ellie was loving it. She is such an animal lover!  Ethan got really into it too i guess because 2 nights later he was having dreams about wanting a pig!

After getting the pigs we went back to Grandma and Grandpa Erickson's for a family egg hunt.  The kids loved it! Grandma Annie is so organized. She gave each kid a color egg and they had to find all the eggs that color.

We also dyed eggs and then headed back to Salt Lake late. I think we left Evanston about 10:00ish. Just as we passed the Port of Entry Alan noticed that we were almost out of gas. Because we have a Sinclair card, we try and fill up there. We thought we'd be OK because we knew there was one in Coleville. We got there and the store wasn't open and the credit card reader wasn't working...so on we went to Wanship...we knew there was a Sinclair there too...again the credit card reader wouldn't take our card.  We decided we could make it to the Truck stop at Bell's Junction. In the meantime the kids were getting tired, but they were really excited for the Easter Bunny to come and Ellie was worried that we wouldn't make it home before he came to our house.  Ethan insisted that he could hear him on the top of the car and kept telling us to turn off the radio and listen. "Can you hear it?" "Did you hear that noise?" He was sure the Easter bunny was on the roof.  Anyway...we made it home and the first thing Ellie did was check to see if she could see any hidden eggs, and when she was satisfied that the Easter Bunny hadn't come yet, she was off to bed. Maddie who had fallen asleep in the car, woke up worried that she hadn't put her basket out. I reassured her that I had done it for her, and she too fell asleep. Ethan was so excited and quickly went to bed.  The next morning the kids searched and searched. The bunny had hidden their baskets pretty well this year.  They found Annie's basket right off (right next to her crib). They looked for about 5 minutes and started wanting help.  Ellie went out to the deck and quickly found Maddie's basket and then she started to get a little frustrated.  She looked again for a while and wanted Alan to help her. She went room to room looking in every corner and finally found her basket in the wood burning stove.  Ethan was a little bugged that he still hadn't found his. He had Alan helping him and finally they were looking in his bedroom when he said "Dad wait...my brain is giving me a hint...pause....I think it is on top of the car!" He ran outside and opened the garage. He was so excited to see his basket perched on top of the minivan. The bunny even left him a note saying thank you for the ride to Salt Lake from Evanston.

After church we went to my mom and dad's house for an egg hunt. Ellie found an egg that had a note in it to get a large "Brain Freeze" (snocone) with Grandma and Grandpa. Maddie got a coupon good for "Dinner with Grandma and Grandpa". The kids love these prizes. Maddie was really worried that she would get the one with the brain freeze for the fact that it wouldn't be open before we leave for India.  My mom assured Ellie that they would be able to get it.

We had a great weekend and it was hard to have to go back to school today! I had so much fun with my kids and Alan home!
I can't wait for the next trip...California here we come!!!

Quote of the Day

Ethan: Look mom, there's that money!
Mom: What money?
Ethan: The money you could be saving with "Gineco" (Geico)

Ethan's Wrestling

Over the past weekend I was going through the pictures on my camera and decided that I needed to post more of them on here.  Ethan was so proud to get his medal in wrestling, and he was also really proud of the quarter he found! We were proud of how well he did! Way to go Ethan!!

6 months old

I can't believe Annie is already 6 months. We had her doctor appt today and she got 3 shots. They weighed her in at a whopping 13 lbs. 10 oz. and she is 24 3/4 inches long. 25% in both.  I asked the doctor if she is too little and he informed me that she just didn't get that "Holland Gene". I wasn't sure if I should be offended or not. :)

Shots shots shots

On Thursday I dropped the girls off at school and told them I was going to check them out early from school because we had to do some stuff to get ready for India. I failed to tell them it was to go get shots.  When I picked them up Ethan eagerly announced that we were going to get shots! Ellie started to bawl!! Maddie not really happy, but not crying asked why we had to go get them. I told them that we needed to so that they wouldn't get sick in India. Ellie still not satisfied cried the entire way to Alan's office. We picked him up and headed to the doctor's office. I was trying to get Ellie's mind off of it so I told her about a time when I was younger ( I won't really tell you how old I was ) and my mom took me and my older brother to get flu shots. When the doctor left the room to get the shot, I RAN!! He had to chase me all around the office and DJ had to pin me against the table to get the shot in my arm. ( I've grown up a lot since Jr. High ) By the time we got the office, Ellie was laughing at me. When we got out of the car, Alan took Annie, and Ethan and Maddie were not far behind him. By the time Ellie got out of the car they were almost to the front door. I leaned over to Ellie and told her "Let's get out of here!" She grabbed my car keys and told me that I had to go. 5 hours later, we were leaving the office. Only Ethan and I had to have shots. The rest of the kids were up to date on their immunizations (thank heavens) except for Rabies. They were all out of that shot so...next week we're off to the doctor again for shots!

Another Good Quote

I think I just need to make a section for Ethan's good quotes!!

The other day Ethan was telling Alan all about what he had learned at school. This week they have been learning about Earth and the Solar System. He has learned the planets names and a song so he can remember their order. He has also learned about Comets and how as they get closer to the sun their tails get longer. He is full of information. Anyway, he was telling Alan about Earth. "Did you know Dad that the Earth has" pause, "it has...Sucktivity" "It sucks us all down to the Earth." "Outerspace doesn't have sucktivity." Alan's response. "Really? Do you mean Gravity?" "Oh, yeah it's called Gravity!"
